Life Lately: TV Shows, Teething, and Missing Kai👶

Me on Japanese TV

My (Slightly Embarrassing) Moments on Japanese TV

A while back, I had the incredible, albeit nerve-wracking, experience of appearing on a Japanese TV show. It was a whirlwind of bright lights, fast-paced Japanese, and the kind of polite, yet intense, energy that only Japanese television can deliver. The segment focused on [mention the topic of the segment, e.g., cultural exchange, foreign perspectives on Japanese culture, etc.].

One particularly funny moment stands out. The host, with a booming voice and an incredibly friendly demeanor, complimented my [mention something specific, e.g., Japanese speaking skills, outfit, etc.]. I, completely unprepared, blushed as red as my (luckily) red shirt! It's those kinds of unexpected, slightly embarrassing moments that really cement themselves in your memory.

Recently, I received a lovely surprise – an invitation to appear on the show again! I was thrilled and honored. However, life has been exceptionally full lately, juggling family, work, and everything in between. Regretfully, I had to decline. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity and sincerely hope our paths cross again in the future. Perhaps next time, I'll be better prepared for the host's compliments!

Missing Kai 🧒💙: The Joys (and Challenges) of Long-Distance Family

My eldest son, Kai, has been spending some quality time with his grandparents in Akita for the past few weeks. While I’m so happy he’s getting to bond with them and experience that part of his heritage, our house has felt noticeably quieter – and, if I’m honest, a bit sad – without his energetic presence. I miss him dearly and am eagerly counting down the days until he returns home.

One of my absolute favorite recent memories is a simple one: taking him to the local park. His face lit up with pure, unadulterated joy as he zoomed down the slide. That infectious laughter? Absolutely priceless. It's a sound I truly cherish. Once he's back, I'm determined to make weekend park trips a regular tradition. It's a wonderful way to reconnect and create more of those precious memories.

Ted (Eita) Takes Center Stage 👶🎉: Teething Troubles and Garden Giggles

Our younger boy, Ted (or Eita, as we sometimes call him), has been a whirlwind of energy – and a symphony of adorable noises! We're fairly certain he's currently battling the joys of teething, but even through the discomfort, he's at that hilarious stage where everything is new, exciting, and worthy of a good giggle.

One of our favorite activities is carrying him around the garden. His little eyes widen in wonder at the flowers, the leaves, and even the occasional brave bumblebee. His giggles, echoing through the house, are the soundtrack to our days. Next week, we're all heading up to Akita to reunite with Kai and the grandparents. I have no doubt they'll spoil him rotten – and we wouldn't have it any other way!

A Little Weekend Reset 🥔🍖: The Comfort of a Classic Roast

This past weekend was exactly what our family needed: a chance to slow down, reconnect, and savor some simple pleasures. My wife, a culinary genius in my book, prepared an absolutely amazing roast dinner. We're talking perfectly cooked beef, crispy roast potatoes (a true labor of love!), and all the trimmings. The only thing missing was a Yorkshire pudding, but that just gives us a fantastic excuse to recreate this delicious meal again soon! Perhaps next time, I'll try my hand at the Yorkshire puddings... wish me luck!
